VBNS

VBNS stands for very high speed backbone network service. This is a wide area network sponsored by the National Science Foundation and by the MCI in the USA. The VBNS has now been replaced with the NSFnet and is used for testing new high speed Internet technologies and protocols. It currently links several super computer centers and network access points at a speed of 2.5GBPS.
