T-1 Carrier

This is a dedicated telephone line that supports data rates of 1.544 MBPS in both directions. It actualy consists of 24 individual channels, each of these channels then supports 64K. Each channle can be configured for voice or data traffic. Most telephone companies will let you buy seperate channels if needed, these are known as fractual T-1 line's. They are a popular leased line option for businesses. ISPs also use them to connect to the Internet backbone.
