SSL
SSL is short for Secure Sockets Layer. It is a protocol that was developed by Netscape for transmitting data over the Internet in an encrypted fashion. SSL works by using a public key to encrypt the data thats transfered over the SSL connection. It is then decoded by the web server with a speacil key that only they have. This is the standard for transmitting data safely over the Internet.
