Fibre Optical Cable

A transmission medium composed of glass or plastic fibres. Pulses of light are emitted from a laser-type source. Fibre optic cabling is the present cabling of choice for all inter exchange networks, and increasingly for the local exchange loops as well, due to its high security, high bandwidth, and takes of little conduit space.
