Caller ID Spoofing
Caller ID spoofing is a basic technique of letting a caller masquerade as someone else by falsifying the number that appears on the recipient's caller ID LCD. Similar to e-mail spoofing by making a email message appear that it comes from one email address, when in reality it has been spoofed and has come from an entirely different one, caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to come from any phone number the caller chooses.
Caller ID Spoofing has been around for years to people with the right software and the right digital connection to their telephone company. Voip has now opened ID Spoofing up to a whole new band of people as it has become alot easier to do. Companines online also offer the service Camophone, Spooftel, and PI Phone.
